I'm a College of Wooster senior studying Computer Science and Studio Arts along with a pathway in Digital & Visual Storytelling (phew, mouthful). As a value-driven career maker, I've been helping non-profits improve their web accessibility while building my own path towards climate design.
My long-term goal as a product designer is to build a thriving society that is run by digitally literate citizens. In achieving that, I'm partnering with Design Buddies and UXGO to bridge the resource gap between students and the UX industry, through which I also learn from and grow as a career maker.
My current projects:
I performed a reading to The Little Match Girl by Hans Andersen and roleplayed the main character at my school English storytelling contest. Not only did I win first prize, but I also fell in love with telling stories about human lives.
The feminist in me proposed a mobile app to help detect workplace sexual harassment. My proof-of-concept didn't make it pass the quarter-final of Technovation 2019, but now I know technology is my gateway to building the world I want to live in, and that solving systemic problems requires systematic solutions.
I learnt about UX design and DIY my first case study at DemocracyLab.org. I also volunteered designing several websites and graphic assets for non-profits and eventually initiated a usability testing workshop to revamp my college technology resource hub. At this time, I found meaning in projects that make technology an ally to people and the communities who need it most.
As my craft grows, I started questioning my why. When put into perspective with my proudest works and where I'm heading, I know that I want to keep crafting experiences that are community-building and eco-conscious. With that, I'm currently on my job grind to find the right sandbox to nurture my design growth.
